Developer On-boarding Reference

The purpose of this document is to list the key technical information for supporting application development on the Polygon zkEVM testnet, including the network configurations, secondary infrastructure support status, etc.

Polygon zkEVM is a decentralized Ethereum Layer 2 scalability solution that uses cryptographic zero-knowledge proofs to offer validity and quick finality to off-chain transaction computation, also known as a ZK-Rollup.

The ZK-Rollup executes smart contracts transparently, by publishing zero-knowledge validity proofs, while maintaining opcode compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.

Polygon zkEVM is compatible with the existing Ethereum/Polygon PoS toolings.

Simply switch to the Polygon zkEVM RPC and get started. Many tools you are familiar with on the Ethereum/Polygon PoS blockchain are supported on Polygon zkEVM by default, such as Truffle, Remix, and Web3js.

Note: There is an initial max limit of 0.25 Goerli ETH for bridging between Goerli tetnet and the Polygon zkEVM testnet.

• Supported asset types On L2 you can create any assets that you can create on Ethereum & you can bridge any ERC 20 token and ETH on L1 to L2 and vice-versa.

• **Token bridging support for L1-L2-**It involves 2-step interactions through the zkEVM bridge UI for cross-chain transfers of ETH or supported ERC20 tokens. Please follow the instructions and prompts of the bridge UI to initiate and finalize the transfer. Since Polygon zkEVM is a L2 solution with a trustless bridge, all the "token mapping" info is stored on-chain, and can be queried, without the need for mapping request submissions on a permissioned list. The team is exploring how to provide an additional UI for the mapping process. .
• Faucet for gas token Use current Ethereum faucets for the testnet Goerli, and bridge the testnet ETH to Polygon zkEVM via the zkEVM bridge UI. We may add a faucet directly on L2.
